Dapper Dan

Wonder Boy had a day off from school today so I thought it would be a good day to do a test fit of his orchestra uniform. I have to admit that I think he looks particularly dapper in his tux!

I am truly looking forward to their fist concert at the end of this month!

Birthday Mutt

My "youngest" just had his third birthday!

Yes, my youngest is a pup. A 70 lb ball of energy that thinks he still fits on our laps! He's the biggest goof ball we've ever had in our home. And as much as I fuss at him throughout the day, I'm pretty glad we made him part of the family. Our days would be considerably more dull without him!

Misty Morning

I love seeing these guys in the mornings on the last leg of my morning commute:

On this particular morning, a fog had rolled in and when I pulled over to the side of the road to grab this snap, the horses started wandering curiously in my direction. I'm sure I must have greatly disappointed them as all I had in hand was my camera - no sugar cubes or carrot sticks. I promise next time to be better prepared!

My Favorite Fish

Continuing on the vein of my favorite things ... this is my favorite "fish."

My Wonder Boy is now a freshman in high school.

I don't have any idea how that happened! But I will say, as much as I miss the super hero phase or the always-in-my-lap phase, I'm really enjoying this stage of Wonder Boy's development as well. He has a really quirky sense of humor and a super quick wit. He is still amazingly affectionate (at least in the privacy of our home) and he makes his father and I proud every day.

And as a bonus, he's tall enough to get things off of the top shelf in the kitchen for me now!

Dusting Off

A friend recently reminded me that I had this little site and suggested that I update it with some of my more recent work.

I'm in the middle of a month-long assignment to highlight some of my favorite parts of my day, so I thought that would make a good way to get back into the swing of posting.

So I'll start with these images:

After homework is done, before piano or soccer practice, my Wonder Boy pulls out his viola and plays for me. He loves to play and that works for me because I love to listen! He's in his 5th year as an orchestra student and the progress he has made over that time never fails to amaze me. And perhaps what touches me even more is how much music has become such a big part of his life because of his exposure to orchestra at school. I am already counting down the days until his school's first concert in late October!
